I have this in my South yard. Under a Box Elder tree.
This is not a native of this part of Texas I am sure. Our weather gets down pretty low sometimes in the Winter.
I remember growing up in California and seeing it there. Only thing I can think of, this plant was originally in a pot and it was put outside in the ground. It dies down and I trim off the old leaves and there, in the Spring it comes up again. I have been thinking of taking a piece of it inside to live.
