Eastern Purple Coneflower 'Magnus'
Echinacea purpurea

I love Purple Coneflowers for their dramatic display!!! You can never have enough of them! I purchased a 4" pot late last Spring, and just 2 months later the plant was blooming beautifully! The bright pink petals just made my garden look more festive!

But what do you plant around their feet? Mine just rise up and I'm needing deer resistent something around their feet?

I'm like you Sodakine, I can never have enough of them. Have you tried the new Echinacea 'Ruby Giant'. Blooms are supposed to get up to 7" across. I bought three of them last year. Nice pic.

Thanks, broots!! No, I've never heard of Echinacea 'Ruby Giant'. It sounds awesome!! I'm gonna have to check my local nursery. I've only seen Magnus and Bravado there. I also want Echinacea Razzmatazz.

brekers: Echinacea Purple Coneflower is deer resistant. During the warmer months last year, the deers came to my garden and only ruined one Echinacea bloom. They didn't seem to like the taste or texture of the flower as I found it lying next to the base of the plant. I really don't mind the deers so much anymore, because at least they don't kill my plants...unlike those miserable gophers.
