this is my second year from having this in my garden - and mine looks just like that - when does it start coming back to life after a long winter? and do i cut it back or just let it go?
They need soil that is constantly moist or wet. I have mine inside a fountain. Others dip them in their ponds. If you dont't have a pond, you can also plant it in a pot, then get a bigger pot or container with NO holes and place the potted plant in that container with about 3/4 or 1/2 water inside. That should do the trick. Just make sure you don't submerged the crown under water. The roots however need plenty of moisture.
