| This plant just started to grow out of the soil a few weeks ago, and has almost reached 2 ft very quickly. It seems to grow from some sort of corm, almost looked like a banana pup in the early stages, but now it has many leaves. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Regards,
Olga

| I think Brugmania is right; it is definitively an aroid. Looking forward to photos if it flowers. |

| I agree with brugmania and arsenic, it is definitely an aroid. I believe what can be seen in the picture is an inflorescence.

| Finally, I believe I've found the name of this weirdling! After many hours of research I found images of a plant that looks just like it, the name is Gonatopus boivinii, also called Giraffe's knees. Thanks to the tips received from DG's members I was headed in the right direction.
Thanks to everyone for your help, I can't wait to see if it produces any seeds.
Regards,
Olga
