We take very little of our garbage to the dump. I keep a small bucket under the sink for coffee grounds, vegie peels and trimmings that get buried in the garden rows. Dogs get meat scraps, fat and gravy. The burn barrel takes care of kitchen paper and wastebaskets. We take glass, plastic bottles, tin cans, newspaper, magazines and aluminum to the recycle center. Our state has a deposit/refund law for cans and some beverage bottles, so those go back to the grocery store. Milk jugs are used in the spring in the garden and then recycled. That just leaves a category I call hopeless that makes it to the dump.
