I'm interested in two or three red cedar for my yard. How old and tall are the trees in this picture? I wouldn't want the trees to become TALL; 8-12 feet would be ok. How fast did yours grow to the height shown in this picture? You also posted a beautiful close up of the waxy, blue cedar "berries." I read that these plants are separate male and female so to get the pretty berries I'd need at least one male tree. The small trees have needle-looking foliage but the older trees have beautiful overlapping scales. How old/large were your trees when the scale-like foliage appeared?
I live in Dover, NH which is in the SE corner of the state not far from the coast. Thanks for your time. Ketchikan
I'm not sure of the age of these trees. They were growing wild in a field at the time that house you see was built. They grow natively around here. I'd guess them to be at least 15-20 years old or more. They're about 30' tall or so. I have a couple young ones and they seem to grow 1-2' per year from what I've observed. That's about all I can tell you...sorry.
