Beaucarnea recurvata

I have both the normal green Pony Tail Palm and this beautiful red form. Does anyone else have this one?

When the Pony Tail Palm is grown inside be sure it under lights or in or near a window. Mine died from insufficient light during the winter months, otherwise was a healthy, beautiful plant.

Hi Maudie, mine are all outside and either in direct sun or part sun. They are growing wonderfully. Thanks!

I've searched for about a year for a red ponytail palm. Any one know where I can find one? The photo is very pretty!

Many Nolinas will show red when colder... but I have not had too many that will do this consistently. N guatamalensis shows deep red-maroon on the new leaves most of the winter months and somewhat the rest of the year. However this red color seems to fade in all plants as they age.

I have one of the red varieties. It is a deeper maroon. It turned red about a month ago. I think it is really pretty and I'm so glad I found it.

If the bulb on the bottom is totally covered with dirt, will this affect the growth/health of the ponytail palm?
