Can anyone identify the name of this plant? I have been given numerous names of what 'it' might be however no one seems to know for sure. Thanks for your help.

I think BusyBee has the same plant in the ID forum looking for a name. Cool. Is it a plant or a bush?

Hi, there and welcome do DG! :)

I'm not sure what that plant is, but I wanted to point you toward the Identification forum here at DG. This thread will most likely be moved there since that's where our resident brainiacs hide out and ID stuff for us! http://davesgarden.com/f/plantid/

Thank ya'll so much. Now I know more about this site and how to use it. Maybe you have put me on the right track. Thanks again.

P.S. Yes, this one is red-orange and has thorns too. My wife took a picture of this at a small country church while attending a wedding and has talked about it ever since.

Hello...Dr.05Weeds wife here. We are in Zone 8...southeast Alabama. I am so glad to have found out the name of the plant. I have been carrying that picture with me everywhere. It's obvious I have been asking all the wrong people. Tomorrow we head back to the local nurseries and tell them what WE know thanks to you all on this site. If our local dealers can't get it for us, the Internet DOES work, no? Thanks so much.

You have come to the right place for information and ID of plants. There are so many knowledgeable members here they can answer all your questions. I don't know where to buy one and I have tried to root cuttings for 2 years with no luck and the my blooms never produce seeds.
Check out the Garden Watchdog on this site (on your right, scroll down) to find out about internet nusery ratings before you buy.
Welcome to Dave's and if you have any questions, let me know

Thank you all for your help in correctly naming this plant. I have visited the hyperlinks for further information and the Garden Watchdog for your reviews. This has got to be one of the friendliest and most helpful groups on the net. Out of all the names I had been given for the name of this plant (locally)...no one was correct. Thanks again.

Weeds, sorry to be so late in answering but I got the seed from a lady in town that had a large bush. She didn`t know what it was but told me I could get a cutting or some seed. The seed sprouted very easily. I am sure if you have blooms like the picture you should have seed.

Dr05Weeds, great to have you here. We are almost neighbors! I live in Newnan, GA and have been through Dothan many times. We're having a get-together in Jackson GA in October, maybe you both could come for the day. Some really great people coming to it.

This spring,I took a few cuttings to try to root, out of six cuttings,I got one to root.I use a little rooting powder & put cuttings in deep shade.
