Is it me or does the American Basswood gives off such a beautiful, sweet-smelling fragrance?! When i walk down a city street, I can always bet there's one nearby. I visited the Brooklyn Botanical Garden today and there was a small area of them and the smell just overtook me! Wonder if the blossoms are ever used in certain perfumes. Let me know if you've noticed the same thing.
I have only met the American Basswood once, but the English Linden Tree Tilia x europaea does have a wonderful scent when in flower and I believe it is used in some perfumery.
