| It's time for my yearly game of "what's my weed?". Anybody know what these are?

| Sounds like it should be a new show. "What's my weed!!"
#2 looks like a Phlox paniculata stragler. I have a section where I dug the phlox out long ago but stray shoots keep popping up. They never flower but I spose I don't leave them long enough. |

| Unless we already have a database and/or forum just for WEEDS this might be the time to start one? |

| I would love to have a weed database. I have some pesky ones that I can't get rid of and learning what they are and how to control them would be wonderful.
About your weed #1 Michele, I have those all over too. I've been trying to research it and I've come to the conclusion that it's maybe some sort of toadflax?
Could # 3 and #5 be tree seedlings? #3 possibly a cottonwood?

| LOL What's my weed as a game show might be fun for us plant brained people! :)
The weed two has a firm leaf and it doesn't look like my other phlox, but I will let it go and see what it does.
Weed two does not look my Linaria. The only one I grow or have have grown is 'Canon Went'.
I thank you two for your replies and will keep an eye on these. I will even let them flower, but you can pretty much be sure I will yank them before they seed unless I get a really good ID. LOL

| There was talk of a weed database at some point. I don't know if they got added to the regular pdb or went somewhere else or nothing came of it. I think the old posts are in the DG forum. |

| I think most of the weeds have gone into the regular PDB. One man's weed is another man's treasure ;) |

| I went out to compare leaves. Here is my nearest Phlox which is about 15 feet away in another bed.

| I have a wildflower garden that I started two years ago, and I have come to the conclusion that every plant has a weed that duplicates it. Every morning I check my garden for the surprises that are coming up but unfortunately I can't tell which ones are weeds until they bloom. I find for weeks I am giving my weeds tender loving care and by mistake I pull my flowers..oopps! JoanJ seeing we are neighbors, I'm sure we are tending the same weeds. cj |
