Actually, we're on our second plant since the first one didn't make it through our cold rainy winter. They're relatively inexpensive here at $1.99 for a 4" pot, so I don't bother with seeds or divisions.

That is amazing! I nearly bought one last year, but I had never heard of the plant, and the buds hadn't opened yet so I had no idea what I was missing.
Thanks for the compliment on the trellis by the way. If I had stayed in San Francisco I could have built one for you. Great photos.

We managed to get the Lotus through the winter -- it's been a fairly mild one this year -- and I have been fertilizing it about once every two weeks to keep the blooms coming. So far, so good! Here it is, now about 1 yr old purchased as a 2-1/2" potted seedling.
