Ornamental Millet, Black Leaf Millet, Pearl Millet 'Purple Majesty'
Pennisetum glaucum

This is the millet growing in a container with marigolds. It has not yet sent up a seed stalk.
It is recommended to be grown in a group of three or more for more ornamental purposes.

That's a really pretty combination. How did the millet do this year? I really like the color of the foliage at this age.

I have had good plants and bad ones. The ones here grew and I transplanted them to the ground where they put out even more seed stalks and the foliage got sort of wavy. It was the prettiest of the ones I grew. I think next year if I decide to do it again, I will plant more together, maybe six or eight for a fuller more impressive planting.

Thanks for the information, Windy. I'm glad to hear they did so well! The reason I happened to be looking at your photo is that I came across some of this millet this fall and wondered about having it in the garden next spring. It's good to know that you liked it so well and that a clump of them would be more impressive.
