Plain jane I would not call this lily. It is a breathtaking sight when in flower. Tall and with a wispy wine-bottle shape to the plant, with the upper leaves on the stem progressively getting shorter and shorter - almost clasping the stem. The whole plant has an elegant tapered look, crowned by a cascading turret of delicate and dazzlingly white flowers. Best of all is the perfume - intense, fresh, and intoxicating.
Relatively easy to grow providing it is not in too shady a spot. It likes heat in summer - especially dry heat - and winter moisture.
I've seen this lily growing in bare soil in full sun in Australia; anyone who's lived there would know that the sun can bake plants within a day in summer. Not only was this lily growing, but thriving in those conditions. That's how tough this lily can be.
