In one remote section of this woods in Rockledge, Florida(32955), wild Maypop (Passiflora incarnata) has covered almost everything. This photo shows a Maypop flower and a wild Lantana as the Maypop vine is almost ready to strangle the wild Lantana bush.
Surprisingly, yes. This area is at the edge of a relatively
new Park. It appears that this area was used as a debris
dump for all construction work. The chain link fence is
full of P.incarnata (Maypop) vines with fruits hanging by the hundreds. And the whole dump mound, infested with Eastern Diamondbacks, Black Racers and Corn Snakes, appears to be a battleground between Lantana and Maypop. Needless to say, Maypop is winning with hardly any resistance.
