Dragon Flower, Dragon Arum, Voodoo Lily, Black Lily
Dracunculus vulgaris

I was given my Dracunculus Vulgaris by a friend without a description of what it's flower was like. This is a better photo than many I have seen. I planted it on the North side of my house in Seattle where it is overhung by trees and never gets direct sunlight, and gets very dry in July, August and September. It grew seemingly well for 4 years with much neglect, but never bloomed. I was away when it did, but had someone else take a picture, which is attached. The colored part of the bloom is 10-1/2 inches high. The bloom faded, but was still very interesting when I returned over a week later. I love it! Jim Wright
