Picture of Ginger plant flowers was taken in late May 2002 in Summerville, SC. We were really disappointed when the plant didn't bloom in 2003. Plant receives slight amount of morning sunshine in this picture.
Yesterday, I took several photos of what Mom called a Hidden Lily. The bloom was a tall collection of petals. The top half was pink and the lower half was yellow. The pink petals were one shape and the yellow were somewhat cylindrical. The blooms were indeed hidden down among leaves that are about 4 or so inches wide and 18 or so inches tall. The blooms are 8 - 10 inches high and well concealed among the leaves...not like the above pictures where the blooms do not appear to be hidden in any way.
Can someone help me with this flower? Exactly what is it? Scientific name? Colloquial name?
