A really old (embarrassingly old) message in the helpdesk queue about this image and the others of the fruit said:
Quoted:
The flowers shown on the page belong to Pachira aquatica, but the fruits belong to Pachira insignis, also known as Bombax glabra (old-world designation). P. aquatica has a much larger brown fruit filled with less numerous seeds. P. insignis has white stamens, while P. aquatica has red-orange stamens. P. insignis has a smaller, green, woody fruit capsule which is filled with the "french peanuts".
