Here you can view thumbnail images of hundreds of butterflies: http://www.npwrc.usgs.gov/resource/distr/lepid/bflyusa/thumb/thumb.htm

And it's not just butterflies! There's all sorts of critters there. You can also look by state or region. It's a great site where you can just dig and keep on digging.
