Begonia grandis "alba"(Hardy Begonia) grown in Edgewood, Wa. New this year from a 4 inch pot, got to 24" tall, with 8" leaves, blossoms are 1 1/2". Prefers loose soil, augmented with peat and steer manure. Comes back each year bigger than the year before. Propagate by division, seed, or small bulblets that form on stem at leaf nodes in Fall. Also availabe in pink flowers. Great plant for shaded garden.
