Providing color and not requiring much care, the ornamental pepper makes a great hanging basket plant with its constant production of fruit. (San Antonio, Tx.)
WOW! What a wonderful display of the ornamental peppers! You must have a very green thumb. I've tried growing them without much success. They kinda just sit there. Thanks for posting what is possible with this plant!
I have never had a problem with them. Guess they like the weather here. I grow them in full sun or morning filtered shade with afternoon full sun. Watching the colors change is intriguing to me. I had to take this photo in low light and then lighten it in my graphics program to try to capture their true colors. I find that they do better in a hanging basket because I can control better the amount of water I provide them. Glad you enjoyed the photo!
Just came across your ornamental pepper pictures, and I started to think about next year planting some to see how they do in Lake Havasu city, Az it is 119 just now at 4:34 pm do you think they can take heat?
Thanks Eye
Mine have done well when the temperatures were in the 100s and above for over a month and a half. I would try them and see how they do. You might want to grow them in containers at first. That way you are able to move them around until you determine if they need to have some filterd shade in the afternoon. They are wonderful plants. I have now started to intersperse different types of peppers in my flowerbeds. Good luck with them.
