That is a real little cutie! :)

I love the Mimosa Tree and am hoping to start one to grow inside and or on my Balcony. I have one germenating in a Jiffy Peat pot under a grow light but I understand now that will probably not work.

The DG [HYPERLINK@plantsdatabase.com] says "direct sow outdoors in fall." Since I have no yard I'm going to try germanating it in a 4" clay pot with soiless potting mix after giving it about 21 days in the refrigerator. That is if my first attempt doesn't work.

Hopefully we may get some other tips and or responses.

Hi. I have these popping up several places in my yard. Two years ago I dug one up, partially, (I didn't get the whole root ball, just the seedling and some roots, the tree was maybe two feet tall), and dug a hole and basically heeled it in. My soil is clay and it has done beautifully. I just noticed today that I have my first blooms. I will also say that people think I am crazy to encourage one to grow as everyone here, (West Tennessee), seems to think of them as undesireable. I guess they have never smelled them and don't have a sense of romance. I love them and think they are graceful and lovely. Furthermore, it is one of the few lovely things in this part of Tennessee. I wish I was close enough to let you come dig up some of my volunteers. I have them every year. Good luck with your efforts. Oh, I also am surprised how quickly they grow. Mine is at least ten feet tall and I have had to do some pruning as it was blocking my crepe myrtles from light. People here complain that they are "messy", but so are magnolia's and they are exquisite. This area is filled with conservative bush followers so maybe they hate anything they can't control. anyway, good luck. rebecca
