Empress Tree, Dragon Tree
Paulownia kawakamii

October ... flower buds which stay on the tree after the leaves fall, through the winter, then open in the spring. (San Antonio, Tx.)

Wow! That is LOADED! What a shot. I hope you aren't hanging out a window! Can't wait to see them open. According to the plants database, the blooms look a bit like a lilac. Thanks for the picture! We don't have emperess trees around here.

No, I wasn't hanging out a window. He! He! That made me chuckle! Being in Texas, I lassoed a limb with a small rope and pulled it down some so I could take the photo. This tree is planted in a yard belonging to a neighbor and a friend with whom I taught before I semi-retired (repair computers for a school district now part-time). The blooms are a beautiful lavendar-purple. He has purple wandering jew and I believe purple salvia planted in a bed at the base of the tree. It is a nice combination. In the neighborhood next to mine is a huge specimen. I am glad this one was short enough for me to be able to access the flower buds.

No, I don't have seeds right now. As soon as the tree makes seeds, I will collect some and send them to you. They will not be ready to collect for quite some time.
