Madeiran Cranesbill
Geranium maderense

Phot taken at RHS Gardens Wisley, May 2003. This plant is hardy in sheltered gardens in SW UK. In 8b needs greenhouse to overwinter.

What stunning plants! Both the echium and the geranium. I didn't realize that geraniums could grow like that. Thanks for the wonderful picture.

I'm a big fan of cranesbills, but have never seen this variety! Spectacular! Is it OK for zone 5, I wonder?

Not outside Andrea, it is doubtful hardy even in zone 8, needing a very sheltered spot outside. I have grown it in a cold greenhouse, keeping it dry in winter, and it has survived temperatures just below zero, but it is happier if the temperature stays above 3 degrees centigrade.
