Japanese Persimmon, Oriental Persimmon, Sharon Fruit, Kaki 'Fuyu'
Diospyros kaki

A Hachiya Persimmon (PLU #4427) at left with a Fuyu Persimmon (PLU #4428) at right. Both were grown in California and were bought from the local Supermarket.

It looks like the picture of a regular persimmon (on this website) has gotten confused with a picture of a fuyu. Fuyu is tomato-shaped, not pointy-bottomed, isn't that right?

Hey Guys, My persimmon tree is 12 yrs old, only get about 6 or so fuyus a yr. Yhe nursery says I'm lucky to grt that many, they are supposedly slow, my neighbor has one, same story. How about you? ambest

Very true Thaumaturgist :)
I've been looking through the different types in the PDB trying to ID the tree that I've inherited with the house in France.
The fruits ar definitely tomato shaped and therefore would seem to be Fuyu if I read your plain English correctly?

ambest, my tree appears to be pretty young and is smothered in fruit. I recommend a hunt for a more polite nurseryman too ;oD
