Wow, great photo. Had no idea this plant was so common down there. Is that recent? Does this plant bloom in the summers or winters for you? Not sure how that would translate here anyway.
Quoting from the flora of Victoria:
"A common species of the sandy coastal East Gippsland 'grass-tree plains'..."
It grows mostly in the extreme east of Victoria and up the New South Wales coast, but where it grows it can be the dominant species, usually in seasonally wet sandy flats. The flora gives the flowering season as Aug - Feb, which amounts to Spring and Summer. My photos were taken in November.
