Our bluebirds absolutely love the berries on this pokeweed plant. However it has a huge tap root and is very hard to keep under control. I have learned this the hard way by letting it freely reseed two years ago and now am constantly fighting to control the new seedlings!
I am curious (out of necessity) - having purchased a Phytolacca esculenta (Chinese pokeweed) - about "where" to plant it - sun/shade? I realize it probably should be containerized - yes? Space is not a problem for me - nor is the business of nicely organized flower beds - but I could put it in a big pot, next to my pond, in partial shade ...is that a reasonable plan???
