I am gardening down one side of a historic house owned by the local historical society. It is open to the public May-Oct.
There were already tons of daffodils there; nothing else. A picture from 1870 shows some vines growing on the porch column; can't tell what it is.
I added some pinks which will bloom about the time the house opens for the season in May and I have rose campion everywhere which blooms about 6 weeks. Can anyone tell me of a good annual (probably) that will bloom a long time and make a nice statement throughout the season? It has to have been around prior to 1865.
