Didn't know you had this plant, Hazel. I have 2 seedlings from a seedpod that handhelpers sent to me. I guess in about 7 years, with luck, I will have a bloom emerging! Now, thanks to your picture, I have an idea of what to look for.
Susan, the first time I saw a bloom at the base of the leaves, I did not know what it was at first. It is very strange looking especially because it does not have the color of the bloom yet which gradually fills in. Last year mine did not bloom. I think it was because I left it outside during a hard freeze and just covered it with frost cloth. This year I brought it in during freezes. I also fertilized it in early January and again in February with a very mild solution each time. I think I am going to fertilize it every other month. It will be a long wait, but worth it. thanks for your comments.
