What a beautiful shrub! How old is this shrub, and which side of the house, in relation to the sun is it growing? I want to plant several in front of our church as foundation plants, east facing, but I'm concerned it may get too much sun during the summer. I'm in zone 8, also.

Thanks!

Hi, gemstyxlady. I'm afraid I can't tell you how old this plant is because I took this photo in the Dallas Arboretum, but I think it was on the east side of the building, and there were some trees around it, shading it somewhat.

I did a little research about it, and I've read that it generally tolerates full sun, and is relatively heat tolerant; I would guess that they'd be okay based on what I've read. Here are some links that I've found:

Hope this helps,

Thanks for responding to my thread back in November! I just subscribed today so I am able to respond. I did plant 3 of the Osmanthus fragrans at church and they are doing well. Can't wait to see them flower! I appreciate the links you passed on to me. Sorry it took so long to say thanks!
I posted a thread at Garden Talk about a new idea I came up with called Plant and Seed Exchange Day. If you have any suggestions on that topic I would love to hear about it. Thanks again!
