| I'm just getting started on DG. Have managed a few trades, but then got really ill and have had to ask my trading partners to wait for me. I'm better now, so hope to begin active trading again. I love it! It's a great way to get plants that are hard to find, and make new friends, as well. I have a few things listed on my trade list, plan to complete it soon. |

Sinus surgery;(just last week on the 13th) to breathe easier was a high priorty on my list of things to do this year. It was 'in the works' since November, 2003. I had to maintain good health to get it done; as I have too many other things wrong with my health.
Even allergies to pollen, bee stings, dust, mold, Asthma, and sleep-apenea don't keep me down anymore.
Gardening is the only thing that keeps me fit without feeling like I'm exercising.
I have many Houseplants to keep track of during the winter months.
During the spring and summer Gardening is ~ My ~ amusement park!

But can anyone ever tell me _why_ they are _always_ turned to the west? Like they're always waiting to say hi, when I come home.
They can get full sun facing the east all the way around to the west; on the corner they are on but never turn that way.

| Iīm not very good at growing from seeds, so itīs an unfair exchange for me.
As for international trading, I donīt have the proper authorization to send or recieve biological material from foreign countries, and I am afraid to get caught. Unless itīs a very special request, one that I would make too if it was the case.

| I'm an inbetweener, so I selected other. I don't think I'm real active - just dabble, here and there, but do have a trade list. I come across plants that I want to trade for, often, in various forums, not just the trading forums. |

| I have loaded up my friends and relatives for years with plants and seeds. Most won't even plant the seeds and the plants sit on their porches most of the summer. One day I stacked 37 yellow lilies at the end of the drive with a "FREE" sign on them and some lady did stop and take them away. This has been my experience at sharing seeds and plants. |

| I'm new to Dave's Garden, too, and don't know quite what I'm doing yet. Hope to get some interesting seeds together to trade next season. It sounds like a great idea (to trade)-- the DG members seem to have very interesting seeds/plants/gardens and it would be lots of fun to be a small part of them. Good luck. |

| I haven't been with DG for a year yet, and been gardening only for 2 years.
But I am a real plant hog, I trade every chance I get and I am keeping several internet plant companies/sellers in business.
I have a trade list and no real wish list because I usually decide I want a plant and search it out til I find it.
Finally I am getting some plants that are reproducing and I can split them and share. Such fun to share with others so you could say...I trade plants a lot, mostly with DG members and with my neighbors too.

| I guess I'm a "low-key, casual trader." I don't have a trade list, and I rarely do exchanges with people on line since most of the ones I know are in the U.S., and it's a hassle trying to get stuff across the border. When I have extra plants and seeds I give them away to my gardening friends, and when they have extras, they give their's to me.

| i'm a casual trader...mostly with plants between friends and family. I just started growing from seeds last year..did a little more this year...and will do more next year. I bought lots and lots of seeds and I gave seeds to everyone who wanted some. I haven't given away any of my home grown seeds yet but that's coming soon. I'm getting to the point that I'm going to be be a little more selective about the plants I get since I've bought most of the locally available varieties that I'm interested in. It's time to be a little more "unusual". I guess that's when I'll get more into trading with people I haven't met yet but can't wait to meet. |

| Gardenchef... from what I see of the leaves and of the flower, I think you have what I grew up knowing as a Night-Blooming Cereus.
I got ambitious (not to mention: curious!) and found this web site for you, too:
http://www.desertusa.com/mag99/july/papr/nbcereus.html
I had an uncle that used to grow them. My family would pack up and we'd go over and watch them bloom. When you're 9 or 10, that's as much fun as watching paint dry! But I'm happy for the memory...

Now although I am having the time of my life, I have a lot to learn. My seeds and fruits from my sunflowers and fruit trees, I mostly leave for the birds. I have never traded seeds before. | I voted other, I am no longer a very active trader due to time constraints and have been having problems sending and receiving emails since my ISP became very strict on spam, it seems to deem most emails as junk.
It's too expensive for me to do much trading outside of the UK, it sometimes turns out cheaper for me just to locate the seed and buy it, sending SAEs to other countries is also expensive with the IRCs costing someone in the USA $1.75 each and it only covering the cost of sending a letter here so I have to ask for two, for me to send without an IRC definitely eats into the money kept for the garden. Swings and roundabouts! |

| I may be the only dissenter here and I think that trading works wonderfully for most people but it gives me the WILLIES! I would rather buy or give away plants or seed as I find I am so concerned about trying to find interesting, rare, perfectly grown plants for others it absolutely negates any enjoyment I get out of it. When I receive a plant or seed from others I feel obligated to care for it so well that it is the biggest, best, or at least survives. It is someone's baby! Not much pleasure here, although I have received some lovely plants this way. The one gift of seed I sent to the US, I have no idea if it was received or if it was friutful, which is hardly negative. |

| i put sometimes trader. i poke here and there and trade with folks, when there is something i really want. i did a trade ist of seeds this spring and i only wanted simple annuals and i only had two people bite, so that wasn't prosperous for my work i put into it.
i do collect seeds when i travel to the caribbean or mexico and post the picks for folks to write and get them.
i also try to find a person that is a newbie to gardening, at least once a year and give them a box of plants &/or seeds, for sase. i have been blessed by many gardeners here at dave's who helped me start my gardens and i like to reciprocate this way too. |

| I'm still fairly new to DG, and have done a few trades since being here, but I've done most of my trading while I was "elsewhere", and I'm really not doing much right now because of the heat. I am only collecting certain types of plants anymore, so I'm not doing as much right now, plus my new job keeps me pretty busy. I will share whenever I can, though. I like sharing with other people, esp. if they are new to gardening, and I know my plants/seeds are going to good homes. Trading is the way to get your yard filled with all the plants you want, with the exception of bushes and larger items like that, then you can do this locally, too. |
