Does a 200mm lens on a digital camera provide the same results as a 200mm lens on a digital SLR or a 35mm camera with a 200mm zoom lens ? It can get confusing trying to compare one digital camera against another when one optical zoom starts at 9.5mm and another at 18.5mm when they advertise the same optical zoom, i.e. 3X, 10x, etc. Is there any value/benefit other than interchangeable lens in buying a Digital SLR camera versus a regular digital camera ? I am trying to avoid disappointment in my next purchase. I have had an Olympus 3000Z for several years but it only has 3X optical zoom. The digital zoom is basically worthless. The results I am looking for and want seem to equate to significant bucks, i.e. thousands of $$$$.
