Monkshood tends to have sturdy stems, so it is less likely to flop than delphinium. This one is growing at our local Alaska Sea Life Center in Seward. It is a beauty. Our cool summers allow us to grow these in full sun.
Hi! In Anchorage. Would you mind if I come down and take a cutting? I have been trying to get a hold of some of this. It looks like it loves the climate. I love Seward but why does it have to rain every 4th of July?
Hi, Salmonberry! You're right about it raining on the 4th of July... almost like clockwork every year. However, this year we are having a rainy June, so maybe we'll break the pattern.
Sorry to say, this monkshood is living at the Alaska Sealife Center! Maybe you could wear camo and dig while the Marathon Race is going on! LOL! At any rate, stop by my place (Weezingreens) while in town to see if I have any starts. I've got some rooting right now, but don't know how they'll do.
