We are down to two days a week now, Tues and Sat., with 3 markets still going on Saturdays. I, for one, am thankful...It has been an exhausting year. Our Tuesday market was fairly busy, not like it has been, but good...nonetheless. Yesterday's market was slower than normal, but we still did okay.
I got there at 6:30 to set up (Ralph leaves my trailer with baskets, tables, tents, etc. at the site for me at 5:30 and I come along shortly after. Ralph finally showed up to pick me up around 4:30 p.m. The state fair is going on in Louisville and he could hardly get out of town to get to me. I think that's a place I'll avoid for the next week. I usually have to wait until 2:30 or 3:00 anyhow, as he has to help clean up Erin at our Bardstown Road market. I just leave everything set up and continue selling and do some of my best sales after we "close"...at 1:00 p.m. I figure if I have to wait for him, I might as well earn some money doing it...LOL
We had some corn again yesterday, this time a bicolor called Providence. It is very tender and tasty. Sold about 6.5 bushels. Also sold out of green beans and could have sold much more, if I'd had them. Tomatoes are still a hot item and I think I sold about 200 pounds yesterday. Yellow squash sold out, as well as cantaloupes and watermelons. We have had some wonderful produce this year, despite the abnormal weather. I am hoping our fall crops do as well.
It seems next Saturday, Wave3 TV will be at Ralph's market. I may go and help him and ask Laura to work with Moriah on Saturday in Brandenburg. (can't miss a chance to become a star, you know) tee hee...Most of their programs can be watched on their website as well, so will keep y'all posted.
We have done so much cooking in the kitchen this year, with Salsas, and jams, etc. I'm about wore out from canning. Kidneyguy's DH is going to come and help me though one of these days, right Warren? (He loves doing it.) Ha, ha...
Thank goodness our weather has been holding out at the market (i have to go knock on wood right now) and we have had sunshine. Thursday would have been very oppressive had I'd been there, it was about 96 degrees and very, very humid. We've been having 60s to 70s for weather in the past few weeks and even as low as 47 in the mornings.
Until next week, may you all be Blessed and Safe. Happy Day, Kathy
