This is a good photo showing why I like using this variety for its fruits to make jams and jellies. Attractive features of the fruits are the deep purple color of the juice, as well as their large size at maturity. Just remember to use cooking tongs to collect the fruits! The form of the pads as well as the spring blossoms are also attractive. Mature plants make effective and visually interesting 'fences' that are a strong deterrent to trespassers, while birds and butterflies seem to enjoy the relative safety.
