CLOSED: Strange little guy...

Shepherd, TX(Zone 8b)

I decided to post this here, not because I needed a name, but for those who may run across one of these little guys in the future. The spines were a giveaway for me not to touch, but I couldn't help but get it on a stick and look it up! They're just too neat in person! :-) I found mine on a canna.

Oh my gosh, I've never seen anything like that before. Thanks for posting. He/she is actually kind of cute.

They are cute, but if you ever make the mistake of picking up one of them you will regret it! Learned that as a small child - not all caterpillars are harmless. Those little hairy spines sting!

Shepherd, TX(Zone 8b)

I got stung by some prickly green ones once...now I'm paranoid of any caterpillar with spines! My hand stung, itched, and swelled up for three days. NO FUN!

Cicero, NY(Zone 5a)
