I am new here and just putzing around on a rare rainy day. There seems to me to be some confusion between Calotropis gigantea and C. procera here. The flower in this photo is C. gigantea, I think. Notice the distinct ribbed and protruding stucture in the center of the flower. The plant and flower shown in the C. gigantea thread looks more like the C. procera with the distinct dark purple and white contrast and no protruding center. C. gigantea in my understanding comes in a white or pale purple form without the color contrast on the same flower. The species seem to be switched by flower picture to a large degree.

I notice there are two UBER posters in this Genus. I have a great shot of the seed pods of C. procera and am hesitant to post it for the Plant Files since I am not sure which one I should put it in. My plant has the two tone flower with no ribbed protruding center stucture.

Floridian, what are your thoughts on this? Here's some links to photos that appear to verify what the submitter states.

Calotropis gigantea http://www.kartuz.com/p/50801/Calotropis gigantea Lavender F...
Calotropis procera http://www.kartuz.com/p/50803/Calotropis procera.html

Please let us know what you think and we would be happy to move the four photos to the Calotropis gigantea entry here. http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/67012/

I'd say it is definitely C gigantea. Please do move the photos and thanks!
