I found some information in an old gardening book (my grandmother's) that gave instructions to pull up geraniums, knock off the soil from the roots and trim back any dead leaves, spent flowers, etc., and store upside down in a "root cellar" in paper bags over winter. Has anyone ever tried this? I have done so (although, lacking a "root cellar", I have them in the unheated, but insulated garage!) and I am wondering when to bring them out, cut back, plant and begin watering. Has anyone ever tried this? I wanted to try to save some gardening dollars next year, but have run out of space to bring in all the plants into the house, and didn't really want a bunch of leggy geraniums all over the place all winter! If anyone has any other ideas, please pass them on. I had some gorgeous geraiums this summer and wanted to save a few. Sandy in Naperville, IL
