I'm thrilled to come across your photo post today--I received ylang-ylang seeds in a recent trade, and haven't been able to find ANY growing info on them anywhere! What a joy to see what is to come in your photos, and I've read up a bit on your site as well! =)

If you've the time, could you share if these trees can be started in pots?

This one is the dwarf variety and can be grown in containers according to limited research I have conducted. Are your seeds from the dwarf variety? The nondwarf can become a large tree and can be started in containers, but at some point should be planted in the ground. They like moist soil. They are not hardy in our Zone 8b, so they would need to be protected during freezes ... in containers, they can be brought inside. From the discussion at the link below, it appears that they may be difficult to start from seeds. I hope the information at the sites below are helpful to you.
