Hi: Hope you can help me. I just purchased a varigegated petasite at the beginning of May. It had been really eaten by slugs so I have kept it in a container. It's growing very slowly and I thought I would plant it today. One of the leaves was curled and going brown. Any suggestions as to what I can do to help it along. It's in full sun by my pond. I live on Vancouver Island , British Columbia. Zone 8 Thanks

Hi Pamela,

I grow mine in shade and most sources recommend it. I don't know if it can handle full sun. It would certainly require lots of moisture, though that does not guarantee success. I would try moving it to a shadier location. I do absolutely nothing with mine. In fact, it's starting to really take off, even though the variegated one is not supposed to be as invasive. Good luck!

Regards,
Victor

Hi Victorgardener: Thanks for the information. I have planted my petasite in shade and will now cross my fingers and hope it does well. Thanks again.
