Hi There DG folks,
I'm relatively new to the site, so I'll go ahead and introduce myself before asking my question, if you don't care, skip the first paragraph :)
Name is David, living and farming in Chico/Durham, CA. I've been working on an organic farm here for a few years and decided it's time to jump into the deep end and start my own. I'm starting with 2 acres generously leased to me at a cost of only vegetables! I've read the advice here on the site from many to "not quit the day job" but well, I don't have one, the farm is all I've got!! I'll be planting a wide variety of vegetables (eggplant, tomatoes, peppers, hot peppers, peas, carrots, beets, radishes, winter squash, corn, and more!) this year and have already got a bit of early stuff planted in the greenhouse. I discovered this website and couldn't wait to throw down my $$ for the membership and I've spent hours upon hours reading old messages in the forum. NOW for my question...
I just spoke with some folks at the local coop/natural foods store and they are interested in selling my nursery plants (heirloom tomatoes, peppers, eggplant, squash) but I need to come up with a rack on wheels. I'm wondering if anyone here has come up with any relatively inexpensive solutions that may work for this purpose. My ideas thus far are to find old used commerical baking racks (but I'm afraid they'd be too expensive) or find some type of stationary rack and put it on wheels. I'm pretty handy with constructing and modifying things, but have no welding equipment and a relatively low budget for extra expenses (try none!)
Any ideas creative folks??
Thanks to all and I look forward to becoming a part of the community here at DG!
David
