Yesterday the Vet called and said Bindi's blood work indicated she wasn't suffering from a tick borne disease and could start her heartworm treatment right away. I am glad she didn't have the tick disease. She will still be on antibiotics for a while because of the heartworms.
The Vet will keep her through Friday. I miss her already. I called up there at 4 o'clock to see how she was doing. The Vet tech said she appears to be doing ok, but that she misses her home. Poor thing. I am afraid she will think she is back in a shelter. She said they were spoiling her and had her out of the cage carrying her around. There are a lot of young girls up there who love animals. They always refer to me as Stormy's Mom since Stormy was up there so much last year with all sorts of ailments.
She said I can visit her, so I am going to go up tomorrow and see how she is doing. I will have to be sure she doesn't get too rambunctious for a couple months after the treatment. Luckily, she likes to lay on my lap or sit beside me all day. It will be easier than trying to get Stormy to slow down. She was always so hard to keep still when she was put on crate rest.
I hope she continues to be ok with the treatment. I sure wish there was an easier safer way to treat her than to poison her. Yuck! I almost got sick at the Vet's office when I heard she had them. It is just scarey.
Keep her in your thoughts, so she can have a speedy and safe recovery.
I bought her this little bed and the little stinker pushed it around the room until she got it where she wanted it. She is a little hoot. LOL
