I have had my corn plant for over 10 yrs and this year it has a bloom on it for the very first time! I can hardly wait for it to open so i can take pics of it :) My ex-mother-in-law had one and it bloomed once and she said it smelled awful. Any insite on this?
Lol... well, 'awful' is a matter of opinion. The smell is awesome, yes, but it's POWERFUL... especially if it's indoors! The one I have smells so strong as the blooms come out, we have to cut off the blooms because the smell will make your head hurt... it's STRONG. Other people have said it stinks, but that's their opinion because it IS a super strong perfume smell.. maybe they just don't like the sweetness... maybe, to some with a sensitive nose, it smells close to being rancid.. not sure. I love it, but in confined areas, it is overwhelming!
