10-31-09 I had a potted 'Black Currant Swirl' Datura metel outside all summer in south morning sun.
The plant became "leggy"; however, I had a few nice blooms during this period.
I've pruned the tall plant and made two hardwood cuttings. I left the original plant in its pot.
I'm hopeful the cuttings will root as I have them inside my house in a big west window. I used rooting hormone on my cuttings.
This Spring of 2010 after my last frost in March, I'll plant seeds from this plant outside.
I plan to see if the seeds grow and if they will die back during winter then comeback the following spring. Will keep you posted on the outcome.
My house is full of beautiful plants to enjoy during less than ideal weather outside this winter.
Stay well :)
