Let's say we want to piddle around with growing organic crops to sell since there seems to be high demand for such items. How difficult is something like this to manage? Assume maybe 3 acres worth of land that we could grow on (southwestern OH/Northern KY area). What would be the best (easiest) thing to grow as far as something that doesn't need constant tending to? And what would be the requirements before it could be called organic? Simply no man-made fertilizers or sprays, etc? Maybe 3 acres would be too much to handle, so maybe 1 acre would be more realistic. What crop? Deer seem to like to eat corn and it's touchy anyway with inconsistent rain so that crop might be out. Cucumbers? Melons? Green beans? Peas? Potatoes? Seems like we can grow loads of potatoes pretty easy. And so who would be the buyer? Would we have to sell it ourself at a flea market or somehow contact a local distributer of this type of food? Distributer would seem to be the easiest route (no fuss, we simply harvest it, hand it over and they pay us?).
