So, here I am waiting and waiting for one of my Dahlia's to come up through the ground, that I got from "daisyruffles", who was kind enough to give me 6 Dahlia tubers since this is my first year of growing a garden.
I've got six tubers planted. Four Dahlia's pop thru and I'm looking and waiting for 5 & 6 to break through. Day after day, morning and night, I check to see. No sign. Maybe tomorrow...
So, I think to myself, "maybe it's just about ready to pop through. I'll dig a little dirt off the top and see how close it is."
Trying to be careful, I started to take dirt off the top where the Dahlia is planted. I broke off the top of the sprout coming up. I think I killed it.
Number six still hasn't come up, but I'm not going to dig around for this one this time.
