    This plant has never bloomed. It lived in a shady place til a tree was removed recently. Since, it's in partial shade and has gotten bigger and is looking healthier. It does have tiny thorns. Thanks in advance.

    Well, I can tell you what it isn't and that ain't no rose! Other than that, I'M CLUELESS! Sorry.

    looks like wild viburnum shrub that grows wild here in the south..Spreads like crazy..Has a small fragrant white bloom and then dark berries.

    Thanks for the suggestions...can't find anything like it. This plant is at least 5 yrs old so it isn't a viburnum and the leaves aren't that of a smilax. The stem is very woody and a bit twisted...I guess we'll wait to see if it blooms
