I think that maybe the original picture had the dog, and maybe during a resizing, or even cropping, the dog got cut off?!? Who knows, but I'll be waiting, anxiously for the mysterious answer

Betsybug's pic is very close to mine - look at the left side of her line - it goes right down the side of Shey's face. If I'm right, Shey is black & tan, and you can only see her head. She has pointed ears, the right one (right in the pic - her left one since she is looking out) almost touching the gray rock in the wall.

vpass44 - you have to be out there somewhere!!! At least tell us if anyone is even near warm in this treasure hunt!

Is it some kind of code???? Is it April 1st? Could Dave have a hand in this? Has Vpass left the country? Is there REALLY a Vpass? Doesn't "shey " sound like a strange name for a dog? Will we EVER forget what Vpass's yard looks like?

Stay tuned

Hey trackinsand - I wish the circle I drew was about half the size. The dog I see is right in the middle of that circle. I went back and looked at the original pic - and when you come right down to it for me - any and all of the above are/could be correct. I'm about ready to vote for the monkey!!! But, if nothing else, this IS fun!

The next move may be to set up a bet pool on whether or not vpass44 really exists, or is this whole thread a figment of our collective imaginations?

Oh my gosh!!! I haven't laughed this hard in I don't know how long!!! You guys are too funny! There is no dog in this picture. I think someone is pulling a "fast one" on us, and you know how this works? It's Power of Suggestion. If someone tells you NOT to look at the WHITE HORSE in the pasture, you know you're going to do it. I think it's the same thing here...lol...someone told us there was a dog in the picture, so our brains register this information, and we start seeing "dogs", when in actualilty there are rocks, flowers, tv screens, elves...ooh...can't forget the monkey...lol...no, there is no doggy in this picture, but I think I'll forever have Vpass' yard etched into my memory, and what wonderful memories they will bring: having fun with friends, laughing, crying because we're laughing so hard, beautiful flowers, critters of all kinds...kee hee hee...this has, by far, been the one of the best posts I have ever read!!! I'm going to keep track of this just in case Vpass comes back to "enlighten" us all on the doggy situation.

Of course you don't see the dog. The dog ran away from home yesterday when all the wildlife started moving in! Wouldn't you run if you looked out the window and saw that zoo collecting in your yard? I live in the country and I'm used to seeing a fair amount of odd animals wandering here and there, but THAT yard would scare me.

Neither are truly gardening related, but they're current and keep going and going and going...

Speaking of which, did I spot the Energizer Bunny up there in one of the crafted pics? Or am I just reeling from dizziness at slowing spotting all the different animals in that garden?

Hey, folks. I FOUND HER!! That is vpass44/veta - not Shey, the dog, who is still sadly MIA. Anyway, to make a short story long - I was wandering around the country and I bumped into Hannelore1 out in CA wildlife. I told her I had seen one of her Bison over in Veta's yard. She wondered where he had gone. And then, on my way, home I finally spotted Veta - She's been out back in the veggie garden. I explained that Hannelore1 sorta wanted her Bison back, and I was sorry, but Shey was still MIA.

(That's my story, and I'm sticking to it!)

Marylyn and trackinsand - I'm still convinced that the creature you're referring to as "Dog #6" is an unfortunate Galapagos Tortoise who managed to get his head and neck built into a stone wall. He's already eaten all the foliage near his head and he's probably thirsty. If vpass doesn't come home soon to free Torty, someone's going to have to take some action!

And Shey is probably Vulcan. The hair is a dead giveaway.

Here is what I thought was a black and white French Bulldog when I was looking at it at work, but now that I enlarged it and converted it to black and white, I think it may be an English Bulldog. See, his mouth is opened and his tongue and teeth are showing. He is standing looking over the stone wall and he has his white bird with him. At work, I thought it was an eagle, but now I'm not so sure. Can you see his white head and beak?

I am new to the DG forum, and I love pets, been following this since day one of the "Where is the dog" issues, and now, I know why my brother Shoe seems to be off his rocker sometimes...this is hysterical I haven't laughed so much in a long time. At 11:30 last night I am sittin here by myself laughing so hard I woke up the daughter who thought something was seriously wrong and they were coming to get me and lock me up! Then I got the big "OH MOM...GO TO BED"!

I thought the dog was further in, it looks like a ceramic dog though with a pointy nose...further to the right of the "shepard looking" issue they found earlier. Its white with black ears, black tip on the nose.

Have a great day everyone

I just hate to have to google for it though. I have most of my favorites in books from my childhood, and I so enjoy reading them again.

Do you suppose, if we set up a tea party, and read nursery rhymes, that vpass/veta and Shey would come out? Or, do we really want them to come out?

(Don't worry about me, I have the Jabberwock standing guard. Besides, when those guys look around here, they will be ready to commit themselves and forget about the rest of us poor lost souls..)

Want to hear something funny? I am a psych nurse and I was trying to find Shey at work a couple nights ago. The patients started to look at me kinda funny when I jumped up and shouted. " Look here! There's a French bulldog up in that tree! Can you see him? Can you??" I thought it was a little rude, because I don't make fun of them if they see bugs on the walls.:)

Hahaha Susan! I was a psych nurse too in my younger years, we had a patient who saw snakes on the sidewalk, so if we went out for a walk, she was always warning us not to step on them. Once I thought I would get a step ahead of her, and as we left the building, I said, "watch out for the snakes" and this woman looked at me, deadpan and said, "There's no snakes, are you crazy?" I was left speechless!

But since we are now seeing dogs everywhere, who's to say??

Never mind that now. We have an emergency here! While I was out hunting for a snipe I saw a cute little bunny cross the path in front of me, and I suddenly thought - OH NO, that funny, fuzzy lump beside the TV in the birdbath is the Energizer Bunny. His batteries must have run down, and he is trying to hide from those awful men with the white coats who were chasing him 'cause they think he is Harvey and if they catch him they can catch Elwood P. thank-you, thank-you, thank-you, for all of the nice things that you-all said about my yard. I live off of the main road, a ways back in the woods, and no-one ever sees my yard. So, thank-you

but, ya know I think that I do see shey in that first picture!!

this is a picture of a natural bird bath that we are trying. and once again there are the little dogs.

Veta, ,you have no idea what a relief it is for us to have you back! I bet you did not even know you were lost. If you have read ALL of this thread, you now know that there are not many sane people here at Daves's, but we are mostly harmless, so don't stay away so long next time. Your garden is truely beautiful and I want to see more of it as well as your dogs. Now the only mystery left is who is this little white dog that showed up at my doorstep last evening? He said his name was Shey and told me this long involved story about what a wonderful home he had before the monkey and buffalo and all those other strange dogs showed up. I told him he was welcome to stay with me and was so glad he decided to bring the duck with him. They are both so sweet.

Well helloooooo Veta. You have returned from cyberspace just in time to save us from ourselves. Does this mean we all have to return to the real world of weeds to pull and grocery trips? Ah, well. I love your yard (hope it survived the zoo wandering in and out) and that rock birdbath is tops. Good thing it wasn't there earlier. I would have been hard put to not snitch it. I just love to take natural things and use them like that.

Hey track - you're sand again! This has been so much fun and I thank you all for so many good laughs. (What other thread made photo of the day for 5 days in a row?)

Well, I'm off to see the wizard again, to tell him I don't need a new funny bone after all. The one I have is working just fine - it just needed this to give it a good work out. I haven't had so many good laughs in a long time.

See ya'll around soon!

It's been a HOOT!!!! Now I'll just go quietly into the sunset singing "The Teddy Bear's Picnic" I KNOW there was a teddy bear in there somewhere!

If you go out in the woods today
You're sure of a big surprise.
If you go out in the woods today
You'd better go in disguise.

Beneath the trees, where nobody sees
They'll hide and seek as long as they please
Today's the day the teddy bears have their picnic

I hate to disappoint you but my first real job out of high school was in a private sanitarium, for rich crazy people. Beautiful buildings, real furniture, not hospital metal utilitarian , carpeted floors, totally ruined my previous impressions from seeing Olivia Dehaviland in The Snake Pit. We had wonderful cooks and got our room and board in exchange for long hours and miserablely meager pay.

That being said, it doesn't necessarily follow that I am sane.

And yes, the changing "hump" and the eye issues also. LOL Hard to believe "Frank" was the same man who played Ray Romanos dad! LOL

This is too funny ... made my day!

Thanks Vpass44 for sharing the picture of your lovely garden. Your garden (back in 2005) was very pretty and I hope it still looks as beautiful today!

... and thanks to all of you DG'ers who've drawn circles in the photo to show me where the dog is and also all the other critters in the garden that I missed! ^_^ There are a lot of "Critters" here in Dave's Garden, and you're a bunch of nuts but I love you all!

Oh, by the way ... I do see Shey, in the left side of the garden amidst the flowers, Shey is a Dalmation.

I really do see a dog in the picture! I wish I knew how to draw a circle around it like some of y'all have done but I am so computer illiterate I have no clue how to do that.

Anyway, if you take a piece of paper, or I used my thumb and laid it vertically at the right side of the table, just inside that right table leg. There will be a teeny bit of the table still showing to the right. There looks to be a branch of leaves vertical just at the right side of the table. Just to the right of those leaves at the top, right in the flowers by the stone wall ... there seems to be a dog. I can clearly see his right side, looks to be white with black spots, sort of like a Dalmatian, his head and right eye are visible.

This is going to drive me bonkers, if no one else sees what I'm seeing! I keep coming back to this thread and looking at the picture to see if I'm "seeing" things, and I see a dog every time. I don't think it can be a Dalmatian because it's not tall enough, but it sure looks like a white dog with black spots to me.

Please tell me I'm not seeing things! LOL.

Too funny!

How did I miss this thread all these years? I should be making supper...but no, I was looking for a dog...until I read hundreds of posts.

Now, even though the mystery is solved...here is my answer.

The square in the middle is the "dog"s white-tipped tail and his tushy. He is digging a hole in the garden so his owner can plant more beautiful plants. Nothing like making him work like a dog!

Then the circle on the far left...I see a sideways bird face, complete with beak.

I found the monkey on the far right. He is laying sideways, taking a nap.

Too fun.

Guess I should feed my family now.

Happy trails! Thanks for the laughs.

Okay, I just received a D-mail that stated that tail WAS actually one of the OTHER dogs and she is too embarrassed now to tell everyone.

4 years and 4 months of searching and no one else saw that little tail.

Ha, ha.

Hee, hee.

I found the doggie.
