Fallopia japonica

Contained in a planter but will still spread by seed.

I recently moved into a house with this plant in its gardens. It blooms pink in august. It has stayed in a clump for the 3 years I have been here, and doesnt seem to be planted in a container. My question is, can I divide this plant? When is the best time to do it.( It is about 15 feet high now.) If anyone has information on this, please respond, thankyou.

You'll probably need to invite the football team over to divide this one. Probably the best time is very early spring.
