Knock out Roses at Walmart for $5

Crossville, TN(Zone 6b)

They are under the name of Radrazz and Radcon
Please explain.
I see that PF refers to it also http://davesgarden.com/pf/go/268/index.html http://davesgarden.com/pf/go/80096/index.html
It is a wonderful rose. They require little work.
Thanks, Linda

Those would be the 'code' names (for lack of a better word) that these plants are patented under. RAD for the hybridizer, Radler. David Austin's roses are AUSwhatever, Kordes roses are KORsomething and so on in that manner.

Thanks. Why are they so cheap. At the beginning of the year they were $20 for a 2 gallon pot. These were in a 1 gallon. Linda

Richmond, TX(Zone 9a)

rtd don't worry. In my local rose-only nurseries, they also had similar price decline. I'll make a bee-line to my walmart, could use another for at this price.

It's the end of season thing. They always go on clearance at this time of the year. Online vendors too, usually. Good time to pick up bargains.

i went to my walmart, no knockouts but they had Belinda's Dream for $5

Sebastopol, CA(Zone 9a)

Mine had no Knockouts or Belinda's Dream, but I got Circus for $6.

markleysburg, PA(Zone 5a)

Got Knockout for 3 dollars about a month ago in Harrisburg PA Walmart Just today got 10 Nearly Wild at Lowes for 50 cents each good shape.

Bridgman, MI(Zone 5a)

Lowes here in Mich. had J&P roses at half price but the Knockouts were still at full price. I wanted to buy a J&P but the only ones they had left were not hardy in zone 5. I have a 2 yr. old Pink Knockout and it is virtually carefree. Gorgeous foliage and buds and it never stops blooming, a perfect rose bush except it has no fragrance. I love it all the same.

Richmond, TX(Zone 9a)

Marclay, what a deal!
purpleice, I adore nearly wild. You're right, it never stops blooming

Crossville, TN(Zone 6b)

I went and bought the pink Knockout. At first I picked up the wrong one as the flowers of the red had faded to pink. I could not remember if Radrazz/Radcon was pink or red. After about 5minutes I was able to find a red flower in bud, get the correct name of the pink and locate one.
A local nurseryman recommended the knockouts for zone 6. Most say the Japanese Beetles might chew on a few flowers but leave the leaves alone. Linda

Yesterday I bought 2 5 gal. New Dawn climbers for $5 ea at walmart. the tag said special promotion pricing. never seen than before. they look nice. Now to decide where to plant these.

Sebastopol, CA(Zone 9a)

They get really big and really heavy, Vossner, so don't plant them next to any flimsy structures. They like to spread out horizontally.

Crossville, TN(Zone 6b)

New Dawn is still blooming for me. Even the buds are beautiful. Linda

Richmond, TX(Zone 9a)

zuzu can I do selective branch pruning. I was going to grow it along a wooden fence.

Sebastopol, CA(Zone 9a)

As far as I know, Vossner, you can do selective branch pruning on any rose. Along a fence is the perfect place for it (or them). That's going to look just great. Can't wait to see pictures.
