I ordered many shrub plants and perennials this year thinking I would have the beds ready for them.
As it turned out, I couldn't find the help to do it so I planted everything in large containers.
The plants were small enough to do it for a year or so...or until I can get the help I need to put them in the ground where they belong.
I have read where you can put containerized plants in an un-heated garage for the winter. I have some questions about that...could you help me?
1. When to put them inside? After or before the first hard frost?
2. Should I still put some thing around the pots for super cold weather..like 30 below even though they are in an unheated shed?
3.Watering them? Do I water well before the frost and then some during the winter when they are inside?
4.Do I cut them back, if so, how far? When?
5. Our last hard frost date us somewhere close to the 15th of May...Do I wait to put them back out again after that last frost or just before?
I have about 30 of these plants and would like to save everyone of them. I sure could use your help on this.
Thanks,
Bell
